Apparently some vegans are telling people not to eat honey to support bees.

STOP. STOP NOW.
DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW BEES WORK?

Buy honey (local if possible) -> support beekeepers -> support bees.

I swear people don’t even think this stuff out.
Beekeepers provide bees with an environment in which they can live, and are encouraged to thrive. Bees then have a big huge giant person who can deal with any threats to the hive.
Yes, honey is a winter food supply for bees, but beekeepers (unless they’re dicks, in which case they’d be shooting themselves in the foot) will NEVER take too much honey from a hive, and will always ensure that bees have enough food. Think about it, you’re not going to starve a source of income/hobby, are you?

So now.
Support beekeepers.
Support bees.

buzz.

I think a few ppl took Bee Movie too seriously.

My mom keeps bees. The amount of money she spends on keeping them healthy, happy, and fed is… well. Let’s just say my dad doesn’t look at her credit card statement. :P She feeds them sugar-water to supplement nectar in the early spring and late fall, cleans their hives of beetles and mites (one of the possible reasons the honey bee is disappearing), expands their hives when necessary to keep the hive strong, and a whole bunch of other tasks that are thankless and are more likely to get her stung than make her rich. (Tho, to be honest, kept honeybees are adorably tranquil. I’ve been around her hives barefoot and wearing a swimsuit while she opened them up to check on them, and not a single sting.)

But probably most importantly, she and my uncle (also a beekeeper) go out and collect ‘nuisance’ hives. They get calls from people whose houses, garages, yards, whatever, have been infested with a hive of bees, and who would otherwise call an exterminator. Instead of killing the hive, they—and other beekeepers like them—relocate the bees, letting them not only live, but thrive.

So, buy local honey. You’re not only supporting an entrepreneur in your own community, but the quickly vanishing honeybee population. (Plus, you’ll piss off holier-than-thou vegans, which is entertaining as hell.)

kinda interesting

VEGANS RUIN EVERYTHING.

Also definitely buy local honey. One of my mum’s friends kept bees and the honey we got from her hives tasted amazing compared to the store-bought stuff.

But every time you milk a bee for its honey its tiny udders get chapped :(

THE X-FILES

Another color version on my TUMBLR

Simply the best show ever, a true masterpiece that totally re-defined Television. I got an amazing childhood following the adventures of FBI agents Mulder and Scully dealing with paranormal and conspiracy. Can’t stop watching the complete 9 seasons, year after year, with the same fascinated eyes.
The X-Files definitely had an incredible impact on my life, making me undoubtedly someone passionate, a Story lover, and a creative mind ^_^

Character from a story I’m working on, in gloriously scratchy purple! Lunchtime sketches ftw. Also, it’s taken me a long time to want to draw anything ever again. Sorry.

Stylistic time travelling — an attempt. There’s probably a two-page long missive I could write about this subject, but suffice to say I miss the way it used to feel to draw like this!
